Transmart is a mass transit services company specializing in delivering goods and services in a manner that enhances the daily lives of transit riders. Specifically, our concept embraces the integration of existing and proven technology to add convenience, functionality and security as part of the Transmart retail platform. From the riders' point of view, we envision a station system of retailers who are virtually connected through the Internet, so consumers can access the full range of goods and services offered throughout the Transit System's stations.
Example of TransMart value-added services
8:00 AM - TransMart member John Smith leaves for work from the Concord BART station
8:15 AM - Remembers he has forgotten his wife's birthday is today
8:45 AM - Arrives at Powell St. station and accesses the TransMart Concord online store and picks out a selection of flowers, a card and a gift and asks that the gift be wrapped. He requests pickup by 5:30PM.
8:50 AM - John approves payment online
8:55 AM - Approves automatic payment using RFID TransMart tag
5:00 PM - John leaves Powell St BART station
5:40 PM - John arrives at Concord BART station and walks to the pickup counter where his RFID tag identifies him to the attendant on duty who collects his flowers, gift and card
5:43 PM - John is identified and authenticated using his RFID fob on his keychain
6:00 PM - John arrives home to a happy wife as he presents the flowers, gift and card.
